Early this year I really got into smoothies. I was inspired by Oh She Glow's Green Monster. I have made smoothies in the past but until recently really didn't have that "magic" formula down. I have to say with a little experimenting I feel I have a few winners now! Still my favorite... orange, strawberry, and ginger smoothie! It is the best when needing a pick me up, or during those times when you need something to help you get over that cold. Without further ado here is the recipe! Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup vanilla coconut yogurt (regular vanilla yogurt would work too)
- 1 medium sized banana
- 1 orange
- 2 medium carrots
- 1 heaping tip of chopped fresh ginger
- 10 frozen strawberries
- 4 to 5 ice cubes
- 1 Tbs omega oil blend or flax seed (optional) - I use 7 Sources from Flora
Note - For more veggies add a few cubes of frozen butternut squash or a handful of spinach
Method
Place the coconut milk, vanilla yogurt and omega or flax seed in a blender first. Next add the fresh fruits and veggies followed by the frozen strawberries and butternut squash, if using. Blend until smooth. Finally add the ice cups and blend one last time.
