Last summer I made two separate trips to St. Louis. One was sadly due to the passing of an uncle, and the other for the wedding of one of my cousins. During the trips I did find some great gluten free eats and treats that I would like to share...
The first is The Corner Pub and Grill. You would think this would not be gluten friendly, but due to the owner's daughter being a celiac they have a great menu with some tasty options. I opted for the gluten free chicken burger, which was very good!
Next up...dessert. Ted Drewes is an awesome local find. We have gone to this place since being kids! They have some great custard and always seem to have a huge crowd in front of their building. Although not dairy free, the custard is ok to eat if avoiding gluten. I do eat dairy on occasion with a lactose pill... although I do have symptoms even with this, it is worth it from time to time to enjoy a dairy treat. I asked for toppings, but did not have them mixed in to prevent cross contamination. I will say there is nothing I specified for gluten free and did just fine (no reaction), but do double check if you do go here as things do change.
I am always nervous to travel being gluten free and dairy intolerant, but if you look close enough there are often some great finds. Are there any places you really like going to eat when traveling?
