I cannot believe we are at the beginning of February 2020!! It feels like January went super fast! I have goals for 2020 since December, and am very slowly implementing them. I decided to set a goal each month, but really work at a final goal at the end of 2020. I think it is always good to reflect at the start of the year, and more recently, I have chosen one word for the year to push myself. In the past I have chosen the following:
2018 I choose the word Challenge. I decided that my goals reflect around challenging myself to a new level. And unexpected at the time, I had an incredible amount of unexpected change and challenge last year. I had to work hard to accomplish many tasks and issues in my life, I had a challenging year with a lot of good family growth, I felt stretched and maxed out, and at the end of the year had to take a step back and really look at ways to take care of myself through all the challenge.
2017 I had a hard time finding my word, but a few days past the new year, Maximize seemed just right. I wanted to work to make my time, money, and other aspect of my life work to the my largest benefit. I would say this word was strong and true for me this past year.
2016 I simply reflected and tried to center my life more, I did not have a good word that year, but had some good thoughts on moving forward.
2015 was the word Focus. It was a good one, and in some ways I think I kept this word for two years as I focused to achieve a number of goals I had and to focus on one aspect of my life at a time instead of multitasking.
This year I have decided to go with the word Stretch. I have grown so very much since choosing a word each year. It has allowed me to reflect a little on my life and to think of ways to grow each year. I honestly feel this year I will have to stretch myself outside my comfort zone and explore options for the next steps in my life. I feel at a crossroads in life, and I do not want to be complacent. I want to stretch! I do not think this is going to be easy, but I think all these years have set me up to really stretch my wings this year and soar!
Along with this, I have set out goals for myself to organize my life and house in a way that I will hopefully feel less stressed. I have piles of odds and ends in different rooms and areas that are driving me a little bonkers! I honestly have paperwork and e-mails that need to be saved, deleted, shredded, thrown or recycled. I have fallen so behind on this over the years that I am determined to work on this in 2020 to enter 2021 on a new foot with a lot more order and less baggage!
So here are my goals...although I am a little behind for this year already. But with all good things, it sometimes takes time, and I am giving myself a little grace as I enter 2020. So here are the rooms / spaces I plan to organize each month:
January - Basement storage room and dresser drawers (I have made some progress in these but will carry this over a little into February). I also did a little organization in the kitchen in late December / early January
February - Continue Basement storage room and dresser drawers plus kids closets!
March - Dining Room and Family Room - Organize books and location for seasons and resource assess for homework
April - Catch up on anything not completed and a small time of rest
May - Our closet!
June - The main floor bedroom or i.e. storage room (huge stock pile of items are in this room so wish me luck!)
July - If needed any work on the main floor bedroom i.e. storage room and study
August - Pantry and Freezer
September - Kitchen
October - Basement Play Room
November - All bedrooms
December - Go through anything left or any tasks not finished
The other goal this year is to look for what we have before we buy. I am hopeful to uncover and use what we currently have in our house before buying alternatives outside the house. With this I hope to watch expenses and save as much as possible for other life goals and house projects.
I will keep you updated here and on my Instagram account, Smallsworldpics if you would like to follow along!
