We are now into 2016, and upon reflection of 2015 I have realized the year was full of ups and downs, hard work, excitement and disappointment. I think almost anyone can say the same...but 2015 was a big year for me. It was one that will go in the books, and one that will show how much I have grown. I know I have been quiet here...I have had a hard time getting into the kitchen. Cooking and baking have not been the same with the stress and other items that have been occurring. My schedule has been booked, and sleep has become a higher priority on some nights. But the other day I wound up in the kitchen twice...alone, and they were two of the most peaceful, fulfilling and happy times I have had lately. I realized I had lost touch with something that has always made me me, something that I had always clung to in times of stress, disappointment, and joy. It was a side and peace that I had not felt is so long...and it is something I am planning to get back.
I took this photo on an early morning to my office. Due to schedules I needed to leave early and get things done before taking off later in the day. As I watched the sunrise, I realized how peaceful the world was. I smiled and realized the little things in life are what really matter the most...and by taking those in you will find happiness and peace in the most unexpected situations.
So after reading a number of different types of resolutions, including those from Elise and Angela, I think I have a better idea of what I want to strive for in 2016:
- Less stress and more happiness
- Carving out time for the little things in life that matter
- Remembering the adventure is in the ordinary and enjoying every minute of it!
- Taking care of the little things each day...over the years I have gotten better at this, but still need to try harder
- Disconnect from technology and reconnecting with friends, family, baking, reading, photography, and walks...or anything else I might enjoy!
What have all of you decided this new year will be like for you? Any large changes or goals? Or just a few small things you would like to work on?
